Exclusive at Staulanza Hut
DIFFERENT SPORTS - MOUNTAIN BIKE
Mountain bike lovers will be able to start directly from the Hut and have wonderful nature trips. There are several mule tracks and forestal roads that offer trip of different difficulties.
The zone has became the seat of national track GRAN FONDO: "Civetta superbike", that is valid for Gatorade Cup, that during last years had a medium average of 1000 people. The owner of Staulanza hut will give you informations about this race, at the hut you can also find a detailed map of the trips and there is also a garage where you can recover your mountain bikes.

The track
The trip thatwe propose you is in the zone interested by the race "Civetta-Granfondo-Superbike", one of the most difficult races of the entire bike sporting season by the technical way and that in September interests more than 1.000 bikers. We will follow the track without without doing the entire trip. The start is at pass Staulanza hut from where we descend to Pescul near the ski-seat parking that bring you to Ferrazza hut we take a very difficult hearth path. The difference in height at the beginning is not very high there are several up and down, while we pedalalong a path which is under the wood that protects us with its shade. Paying attention to follow the main path on the left at km 0,4 we find a short levelled track that permets us to have a little rest and afterhaving passed a bridge that gives us a wonderful panorama of the mountainsthat are on the right we begin to climb with more resolution.
After a strong ramp it follows a second bridge, the path is still moderate even if when you proceed it becomes more and more difficult with graely paths.
Col de la Chiza:
A wooden seat invite us to an impossible little rest and after on the left (way sign n.59 to Ferrazza), leaving on te right to secondary paths that brig us to S. Fosca descent the first, and the second to Col de Chiza. From there we began to meet some open places while the climb goes on with some bend of a hight gradient. Just before the third kilometer we can have a little rest decause after having passed a right bend where we leave on the left the grass path to Salander, the gradient becomes very high. The path under the seat-lift shows us that we have only 500 mt to arrive to the hut, but there are some very difficult slopes. The last road bring us to a large square at km 4,6 where there is the arriving station of the seat-lift and a little on the left you find Ferrazza hut.
A stop here is essential seen that the panorama at north of Pescul show us Monte Cernera, corvo Alto and Croda da Lago. The slope has not ended the following it the most difficult slope. From the small square we take a steep path that bring us to Cima Fertazza.
Cima Fertazza
We are comletely on open air, the path is compact but to remain on the bike saddle you have to be a well trained athlete. The most difficult path ends at the heigh of the small house of ski club Val Fiorentina, then we continue to climb, from simple to difficult paths and have several up and downs till we join at km. 5,4 a great land and in the middle of it there are some path-signs. But our sight is interested by the great Pelmo Mountain that appears in its magnificence. From there we continue straight following secondary paths that bring us to Col Dei Baldi and Forcella Alleghe, we race on the left in a speed descent following the signs to Col Pecol and Staulanza Pass. The path is good and the road is speed under the bike wheels.
Later the gradient lowers and abandoned on the left the indications to Pescul we can see Casera Fontanafredda. Passed the small square we continue on the road, paying attention not to be very speed because at km 8 we have to leave the road to follow, with a sharp right bend on the right the road sign that brings to Casera Vescovà. Passed a small bridge, the gradient changes, going along a vey difficult path we join Casera Vescovà, where you can buy and eat typical products and "malga" cheese. Left the square behind us we go straight passing a wooden barrier and begin again to climb a path with some very difficult pieces on an excavated road which is very difficult.
Ristoro Col dei Baldi
A road sign that has written "Ristoro Col dei Baldi, simple dishes, simple path" let us smile: it is a joke to persuade the undecided. The climb goes on with up and downs and at km 9,6 we arrive at a crossroad where we leave on our left the road sign to Cima Fertazza and we go on on the left alvays an hard climb entering into the wood; after having joined again the open land, the panorama helps us to cover a hard road that is the track of the "Civetta Superbike" and we descend till we have the sight of the hut, that we reach at km.10,1. We are on the top of Col dei Baldi, in a panoramic position, with Cima Coldai that is just in front of our eyes. Left the Hut on the right we go on an excavated road that descends softly with road sign to Coldai Hut (n.561) and we arrive in a zone which is characterized with a tangle of excavated roads.
At a first crossroads we leave on our left indications for seat-lift Palafavera, going on the right to Coldai hut, and at a second crossroads leave on the left indications for Col dei Baldi, going on the contrary on the left descending towards Malga Pioda. Malga that we reach at km 11.6 and that has in its square a fountain where it is possible to drink. Left it behind our shoulders we continue on the excavated road that descends with indications to Palafavera with a path at the beginning with up and downs. Continuing to descend the road is better with long straight paths followed by a number of winding bends that bring us after having passed a barrier on the left on road 251 that climbs towards Staulanza pass.Abandoned on the left Casera Staulanza after a long straight road we meet at km. 17,1 a bend on the right where we abandon the road to follow on the left on excavated path indications for Malga Vescovà and Col dei Baldi.
We go on with ups and downs till the road is asphalted and after mt. 100 we join again the crossroads that we have passed before and where we now stay on the right to Cima Fertazza, climbing now the road that we descended before. Passed through at km 19,7 Casera Fontanafredda yard we continue on excavated road passing a barrier and begin to climb sweetly. At km 20,1 we meet a crossroads where we have to leave the road to follow on the righta grass path that climbs quickly and we find again the indications of Civetta Superbike.
