Exclusive at Staulanza Hut
DINOSAUR TRACKS
During these years an enormous stone that has printed the dinosaur tracks, situated at the stratum of Pelmetto at 2.050 mt. on sea level, has become a reverence place; mountain lovers and incredulous tourists, cover in a great number, during the summer months the path that from Staulanza Hut takes in less than an hour of walk at the south-west corner of the upper mountain.
In that place the enormous ruin of great stones detached from Pelmetto several years ago, show this "message" of a remoted past. During those years the Dolomitic landscape had to be similar to the today Bahanas Isles or the Persian Gulf beaches, where tongues of sea entered the land, leaving at every low tide, not deep water mirrors. In these great swamps, the herbivorous dinosaur found seaweeds to eat and carnivorous dinosaurs are the herbivorous ones becoming the "lords" ot te emerged lands. These animals that walked on the beach that several years later become Pelmetto, belong to the "triassico superiore", the period during which we saw dinosaur for the first time; they can be considered the ancestors of the terrible Giurassic carnivorous dinosaurs. The mould of the great stone together with the specimen of some dinosaurs can be found at the Archaeological Museum of Selva di Cadore.
